INSIDE THE WALKTHROUGH
Welcome to Pay H R. In this short walkthrough, we’ll add a sample employee using the actual employee setup screen. You’ll see four steps: personal information, employment, tax information, and direct deposit.
Start with personal information. Enter the employee’s legal first and last name, email address, phone number, and date of birth. In your workspace, you also provide their Social Insurance Number. We’ve masked that field in this demonstration. Next, add their home address, city, province, and postal code. Review the details, then select Continue.
Now set up employment details. Choose the employee’s occupation, hire date, and work location. Select an hourly wage or an annual salary, then enter the amount. For Alex, we’re showing an hourly rate of twenty-five Canadian dollars. Choose the vacation policy and enter the applicable rate. These are sample values, so use the settings that apply to your employee. Select Continue.
Next, review tax information. Set the date the withholding settings take effect. Review the federal and provincial basic claim options against the employee’s tax declarations. If a custom claim is needed, the real form lets you enter one. You can also record any extra income tax requested for each payment. Signed T D one forms and earlier payroll can be recorded from the employee’s Tax forms page after saving. Select Continue.
The last step is direct deposit. In your workspace, enter the employee’s five-digit transit number, three-digit institution number, and bank account number. We’re using masked placeholders here. Check the banking details carefully before selecting Save employee.
You’ve now seen the four steps for adding an employee in Pay H R. Before your first payroll, review the employee’s setup, tax forms, and any opening balances. You can replay this walkthrough, jump back to a chapter, or download the employee onboarding checklist for a handy reference.
