NEW BRUNSWICK RULES
For employers across New Brunswick, including Moncton, Saint John, Fredericton, Dieppe and Miramichi.
The province’s paid public holidays and vacation guide covers eligibility, holiday pay and work performed on a holiday, plus alternative arrangements and special circumstances. Do not import another province’s holiday list or formula without checking the New Brunswick rules.
For each holiday, record the scheduled work, the actual work and what you need to judge eligibility. A store being closed does not, on its own, settle the payroll outcome for every employee. With managers in several towns, use one payroll calendar with period end, timesheet cutoff, review date and payday, and put a name beside each deadline.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE
Imagine a Saint John retailer that schedules some employees on a holiday and gives others the day off. Before payroll, the manager sends the actual hours and any changes to the original schedule. The preparer checks eligibility and the applicable rules person by person instead of giving the whole team one earnings line.
The reviewer should be able to answer three questions: which holiday, what work happened, and why that amount was entered. This is a fictional scenario showing what a review needs, not a universal holiday-pay formula.
EVERYTHING IN ONE PLACE
Your team sees pay statements, tax information and employment details on iOS, Android or the web.
Year-end slips and Records of Employment come from the payroll you approved. Manual slips are included; automatic issue is $15 per T4 or T4A and $5 per ROE.
Record hours on timesheets and bring approved time into the pay run.
Automated pay runs send employee pay by direct deposit for $6 per person per pay run.
Send TD1s and other documents for e-signature for $1 per signed document.
QUESTIONS
Do not assume so. New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador each have their own employment standards. Check each employee’s applicable rules and keep the relevant holiday records.
Keep the employee-level setup rather than applying head-office settings to everyone. The CRA payroll guidance and the applicable provincial guidance confirm the treatment for each person.
There is no monthly fee. Manual payroll is free and includes unlimited employees, contractors and pay runs; you arrange the payments and remittances yourself. Automated payments cost $6 per person per automated pay run. For example, eight employees on one automated run come to $48, and a manual run costs $0. Optional ROE filing is $5 per document and T4 or T4A filing is $15 per document. Prices are in CAD, and wages, taxes and remittances are separate.

Yes. Move the employee details and opening balances from your current reports, and run a historical pay period through PayHr to compare with them. Include a holiday with changed hours in that check.
No monthly fee. Manual payroll stays free; automate a pay run only when you want to.
