PAYHR TUTORIALS / TAXES & COMPLIANCE

Track workers’ compensation.

Workers' compensation premiums are an employer cost on top of payroll, paid to your provincial board: WSIB in Ontario, or the WCB in other provinces. This walkthrough shows PayHr's Workers' compensation page, what applies in each province, and how to set up your board account with your account number, premium rate and reporting frequency.

INSIDE THE WALKTHROUGH

One step at a time.

  1. Workers' compensation in PayHr

Open Workers' compensation in the sidebar. Premiums for WSIB or your provincial WCB are an employer cost on top of payroll. The cards show programs set up, what's assessed, what you've paid and the balance owing.

  2. What applies by province

Not sure what applies? Choose What applies by province. Every province has a workers' compensation board, and Ontario, BC, Manitoba, and Newfoundland and Labrador also have an employer health tax, owed only above a yearly exemption.

  3. Set up your board account

On the WSIB Ontario card, choose Set up. Most fields are filled in for you. Add your account number, the premium rate per hundred dollars from your rate notice, and the reporting frequency. Confirm, then select Save and activate.

  4. Premiums by reporting period

Your account page lists each reporting period, with the payrolls it covers, assessable earnings, the premium, what's paid and what's due by when. PayHr counts each worker's earnings only up to the yearly maximum, and adds new pay runs as you approve them.

  5. Record a payment

Pay the board through its own online services, then choose Record payment on that period. Enter the date paid, the amount, how you paid and your confirmation number, and attach the receipt. Recording only updates your tracking. PayHr doesn't send money to the board.
